*I deleted the photos, and left the hospital information in the comments. Thank you.
It has been 11 days since my revision surgery for contracture and inflammation. I had the surgery at a hospital that is well known on this community. It is always high in search rankings,,, It had been about 4 years since my first surgery in the provinces, and recently I had been under a lot of stress because of some bad things that happened, and I drank a bit, so maybe the inflammation got worse, but it got to the point where silicone at the tip of my nose was protruding. So I had the silicone removed and had surgery with ear cartilage + postauricular fascia. Actually, I wanted to use silicone again, but the director said absolutely not. Instead, he said that because I might feel a strong sense of loss, he would place a thick layer with ear fascia. Originally it was septal cartilage, so the tip of my nose was very stiff, but after surgery with ear cartilage, even though it is only day 11, it is definitely softer and better.
Because silicone was protruding from the tip of my nose and there was a little discharge, I took antibiotics + anti-inflammatory medication starting 2 weeks before surgery, and at the first consultation I hardly talked with the director about the design. My nasal condition was so bad that the goal felt like just making it look as normal as possible. I felt a bit discouraged realizing my nose was in that condition, but I trusted and believed in the director very much for some reason, so I made the reservation thinking they would handle it well on their own. Anyway, I tried to schedule the surgery as early as possible, and it was supposed to be on July 7, but maybe because I was not feeling well that day, or maybe because I was scared, when I lay on the operating table and they disinfected me with alcohol, I suddenly felt nauseous, broke out in a cold sweat, and my blood pressure dropped sharply, so I could not have the surgery. I could not even get the surgery done, and I just went to the recovery room for an IV drip and came back. Since I lived in the provinces, I had already booked lodging, so I was upset that I could not go through with the surgery. The hospital also could not do the surgery that day, so in a way they suffered a big loss, but they instead worried about me and comforted me, and I was very grateful. I took good care of my body for 2 weeks and had the surgery on July 21. I held my breath during the nasal disinfection, and it went well, and then the surgery proceeded after anesthesia. I had the surgery while listening to IU songs the whole time, and I remember how amazing it felt the moment the anesthesia took effect. There was a lot of scar tissue in my nose, and they said it was a very difficult surgery. Later, they showed me the silicone and the tissue scraped out from my nose, and it was incredible. They said it usually finishes within 2 hours, but for me it seems it took about 3 hours and 30 minutes including preparation time. The director and the manager both seemed extremely exhausted. Afterward, they immediately recharged with ice cream and sugar.
The postoperative care was also very good, and every time I went, the director personally checked my progress. I wore the splint and tape for 1 week, and after that I kept taping for a few more days. Since it was revision surgery, the swelling was severe, and maybe because they thought the shape needed to be adjusted, they redid it for me. When I removed the splint and saw the nose shape for the first time, I was really shocked. It looked like some kind of Avatar + a human-faced fish. I had not even gone to consultations at other hospitals because I was so convinced about this hospital and the director, but at that moment I felt a little regret... I had thought I would never be able to have nose surgery again even if I died, but right after taking off the splint and seeing how it looked, I strongly wanted to have revision surgery again,,, And my nostrils were shaped like 0o, so I was really surprised. So I told the director, and he said no one has perfectly symmetrical nostrils and told me to look at his own nostrils. I really worried that I would have to live with nostrils like 0o, but once the swelling went down, they became symmetrical. If the director had told me it was swelling, I would have waited in peace, but I came into this community and searched like crazy with the keyword nostrils... I believed the people who said it would be fine once the swelling went down and waited. I had to keep taping for a few more days, but since it was summer, oil + the stickiness of the tape made it a bit hard. I could not even do warm compresses because I was afraid they would make it even stickier, but yesterday after removing the tape I massaged while removing sebum with oil, and after doing warm compresses, the swelling seems to have gone down more than in a week. In fact, even until yesterday, when I looked in the mirror I could not get used to my nose looking like a dumpling nose + a clenched fist nose, but today I finally feel at ease.
It has been about 4 years since my first surgery, and during that time I was under a lot of stress. Even if people did not say it directly, there was the way they looked at my nose, and there was also the inferiority complex I felt myself. I had often been unconsciously made to feel like, 'You had nose surgery, so why does your nose look like that?' And I taught children for a little while, and since they were little kids, they would say things without filtering, so I often heard, 'Teacher, your nose looks strange.' Naturally, I started avoiding people. My parents were also very upset. I feel like I lost the young and beautiful time that only comes once in life. I did too, but when I first had surgery, I think I only thought about the positive side of nose surgery. I thought complications would not happen to me. So I took it lightly, but as I looked into revision surgery and went back and forth through Naver cafes and this community, I realized it is really not something to take lightly. Just going to the nose removal/reconstruction forum here shows so many heartbreaking stories. Of course, there are also many people who were satisfied after rhinoplasty. But nose surgery is not something you can just try once and return if you do not like it, and it is not something where you can just think, let's try it at this hospital, so I agonized a lot over choosing a hospital. After reading almost all the reviews and even the comments written by the people who posted them, I formed some criteria, and I chose a hospital that fit those criteria. I avoided large hospitals and checked whether there was a single surgeon with enough experience, whether they paid enough attention to function and safety, whether they pursued natural beauty, and so on, and I avoided places with bitter, angry reviews or comments. Usually, hospitals that treat you badly after surgery have bitter reviews. In terms of appearance, aesthetic standards differ from person to person and you cannot satisfy everyone, so I also looked at negative comments, and basically I was trying to find a director with skill and aesthetic sense. However, the hospital did not even have a website and there were not many reviews, so I felt uneasy, but I was attracted by the fact that they did not seem to care much about such things. When I actually went to the hospital, there were many people there, and after seeing post-op photos of cases similar to mine, I gained confidence in the director's aesthetic sense. Since I thought it would be my last surgery, I got the surgery date right away after gaining confidence that at least it would not be a total disaster, and had the surgery. After the surgery, I also felt a lot of regret, wondering how the past would have been if I had had my first surgery there. Of course, appearance is not everything, but at the age when you are most conscious of your outward appearance, I think my nose complex had a big impact in many ways...
Reading what I wrote, it looks almost like I went beyond a broker and wrote as if I were a promotional ambassador. I am also worried someone might recognize me, but I have gained a lot from this community, so I wrote it down. This hospital is not the best, or anything like that. There were definitely negative reviews, and for someone else it may have been a bad hospital. It is expensive, it is too natural, the design, and so on,,, but I think there really is a hospital that fits each person. I was lucky enough to find a hospital that fit me. I do not think my nose is pretty by anyone's standards, but compared with before surgery, I think I got a result that I myself am truly satisfied with. I hope everyone can make wise choices based on their own standards and get results they can be satisfied with. Thank you for reading this long post.
