I had been doing a lot of online research for double eyelid surgery + under-eye fat repositioning, and recently I went to three clinics in person! I picked hospitals known for natural-looking double eyelids + under-eye fat repositioning or lower blepharoplasty, and I’ll write the review mainly about under-eye fat repositioning. For the double eyelids, my eyes are large monolids with no fat, and as I got older one side developed an outfold while the other side is in the process of forming an outfold, so I don’t think many people have eyes like mine and probably won’t be that curious...
1. ㄸㅋ Coordinator - doctor - coordinator, wait about 5 minutes, consultation fee x, photos taken While doing my online research, I saw posts saying this place felt like a plastic surgery kingdom, and the moment I walked in I understood... For the size of the hospital, there were way too many staff and it felt chaotic. The doctor was good. He didn’t seem particularly tired, and whenever I asked something, he didn’t answer in a way that felt unconvincing; he gave clear answers, and he immediately pulled up and showed cases he himself had operated on that were similar to what I was asking about. The surgical method also felt like the standard, textbook approach to under-eye fat repositioning rather than the kind of thing you sometimes see on other clinics’ websites, like "a technique developed by the doctor" and so on. He also said the surgery would not lead to 100% improvement, and showed me by pressing with his hands and cotton swabs that this much would improve and this much would remain, which I liked. Even though it isn’t 100%, it looked like it would improve a lot more than I expected, and I really wanted to do it Rather, the coordinator said I might need fat grafting, but the doctor firmly said that my eyes do not need fat grafting, and that fat grafting should be considered only after fat repositioning if you feel you want to fill in what is lacking, or later in life when you feel you need it. In the final coordinator consultation, there was no pressure to pay a deposit, and they did ask which other hospitals I was consulting.
2. ㅁㅊㅍ Coordinator - doctor - coordinator, wait about 30 minutes, consultation fee 5,000 won (card accepted), recording/filming prohibited (or so it said) I went here because of YouTube; this was the place I was most looking forward to! The overall atmosphere of the hospital was quiet and calm, but the doctor seemed a bit busy. Maybe because it’s a one-doctor clinic? He came in wearing a surgical cap to do the consultation While doing my online research, I saw a few posts saying that when the doctor says, "Please wait a moment," and leaves, that means the consultation is over, and that was really true And he does say to ask more if you’re curious, but I strongly felt that he wanted to take only one or two questions and then leave. At first, the coordinator here talked as if I should do under-eye fat repositioning, but the doctor did not recommend it. He said the under-eye area doesn’t have that much fat, so even with repositioning he wasn’t sure whether the hollow would smooth out, and instead suggested under-eye filler or eye Rejuran;; Actually, I went here not so much for under-eye fat repositioning but because they seemed especially good at double eyelid surgery and had a high understanding of eyes like mine, so I went almost like I was attending a lecture because I was curious about double-eyelid-related things. It really felt like I came back with a lecture about my own eyes: why this kind of line does not work, and so on. But what felt a little unsettling at the end was that the doctor barely mentioned ptosis correction throughout the consultation and spoke as if it could be done or not done either way, yet when the coordinator explained the price, she suddenly said that to get a result similar to the shape the doctor had in mind, ptosis correction would also have to be done. So I was like, if the surgery goes wrong, it feels like they might say it was because I didn’t do ptosis correction. That part felt a bit ambiguous... Still, when they showed cases similar to mine, they searched the patient’s name right away and showed them to me, which I liked. It felt like they pay close and detailed attention to each patient.
3. ㅌㅂ Coordinator - doctor - coordinator, immediately with no wait, no consultation fee The hospital atmosphere was really relaxed and calm. It had a similar vibe to ㅁㅊㅍ, but the doctor was even more relaxed there. Maybe because it’s a two-doctor clinic? He listened to questions well, and actually looked like he wanted me to ask more, so it felt a bit like talking to a professor... The coordinator... felt a bit less professional. She talked as if I might need laser or fat grafting, which the doctor never even brought up..;; But this is kind of the same at other clinics too, though here it was more annoying because the coordinator mixed casual speech into the consultation. The doctor... hmm, I actually didn’t even know how ptosis correction is performed, so I didn’t ask about that first, but here the doctor brought up on his own that ptosis correction was not recommended. He also showed on my own eyes how a double eyelid line set too low could loosen up in that way, and his explanation of the other points was detailed too. For the under-eye area, he explained while pressing directly with his hands, and here too he said it wouldn’t be 100%, but the tear trough would definitely improve and the area above it would remain a little because it was stuck to the Mongolian fold line. He said if I wanted to release that, it could be done with an inner canthoplasty, but since my eyes were the kind that didn’t need any canthoplasty in the first place, he recommended not doing it. However... the review event conditions are way too strict Without the event it’s expensive... and since this was my first cosmetic consultation and first in-person clinic visit, I forgot to ask about the anesthesiologist specialist?? But other clinics had it on their websites, and this one didn’t mention an anesthesiology specialist on the website, so I was like, what? Did I just miss it?
My next visits will be to ㅇㅇㄹㅅ, ㅇㅇㅍ, and ㅇㅁㄷ!
