I used to prefer a small, cute, delicate nose shape, but the silicone made the bridge high starting from the very beginning of the nasal bridge, and as the swelling went down, the step-off became more visible, making me wonder if the hump had really been shaved down properly.. You couldn’t tell from the front, but from the side it was really severe On top of that, when I looked at my nostrils from the front, they somehow looked pinched on both sides, and the columella line was asymmetric too... After getting rhinoplasty with the straight-line nose shape that was trendy back then, I just became someone whose face looked long overall.. I wanted a dramatic change, but it didn’t even look that way... So with only the thought that it had failed, I started looking into revision rhinoplasty last year...
While looking into revision rhinoplasty, these were the two standards I set for myself.. 1) Silicone removal -> a clinic good at implant-free rhinoplasty 2) A director with good aesthetic sense
Honestly, I think trends in nose shape and eye lines can be followed.. but shouldn’t they tell a patient if it really seems like it won’t suit them? Of course patients don’t know much and will request, “Please do it like this, please do it like that,” but doctors shouldn’t just go along with that.. I think this is what it means to consider facial proportions: your glabella is this wide, the distance between your eyes is like this.. when looking at the ratio of the lower face and midface.. it would be better to add a bit more curve ~ They should explain it like that.. My younger self thought places that said everything was possible without question looked good.... I really regret it, but after my revision surgery was over, I decided to forgive that day.... The past is the past.. and the present is the present...
Anyway, this got long, but I started looking for a clinic with those standards, and I think I worked hard searching online and going around in person, without sparing effort, because I wanted to meet a director who would talk to me as honestly as possible about realistic results, in a conservative way.
So I decided on a place that 1) had long experience 2) handled difficult surgeries like silicone removal well 3) handled costal cartilage well and now it’s been over a year since I had surgery
There was no need to remove the capsule, and after partial osteotomy only on the nasal bridge, they lifted the nasal tip with costal cartilage. After having the revision with a bit more curve emphasized, the overall mood of my face changed. What had looked like a long nose became shorter, so my midface looked shorter too... and my face looked smaller. This is why other people all get surgery like that. Asking them to make you exactly like an idol or celebrity with a trendy nose shape just because you want to become like them is really foolish.. It’s good to bring photos, but you should think of them only as references, and for the design, you need to consult directly with the director and consider the mood you want + style + facial proportions altogether.. I hope everyone finds a director with good aesthetic sense and has consultations while observing very carefully who will thoroughly examine what suits your face. We’re the ones paying a lot of money for surgery.. If we go into the consultation timidly and just say “Yes, sounds good,” that’s not an attitude of checking each detail, right?
I heard semi-straight noses are trendy these days too.. Of course, they say this is a design that tends to suit people with East Asian features in a generally safe way, but even within that, how high to make it, how to lift the nasal tip.. how to lower the columella, whether to shave or not.. < I think you have to include all of these as important points and compare them. Don’t fail your nose surgery like I did by foolishly just saying, “Please make it straight~ Please make it slim~” like that..!!
