I seriously had double eyelid surgery and medial epicanthoplasty in 9th grade, and I ended up with uneven double eyelids, nail-like scars from the epicanthoplasty, white scars, eyes looking too close together, depressed scars, asymmetry, that kind of result;; So I went to the hospital and told them, and I still remember exactly what they said.
“Ah. Then we’ll take you in now and attach it back for you.” “It’s simple. Should we do it for you?”
I seriously wanted to hit the doctor’s brain Communication was impossible, and in the end they kept basically saying “so what do you want us to do” for 30 minutes, so we eventually left. They had zero intention of solving it and had the mindset that they did absolutely nothing wrong Fortunately, in the middle of all this, my glasses prescription is high, around minus 8 so I covered it with glasses, and as soon as I became an adult I started looking into restoration Since I live outside Seoul, I searched so hard through restoration clinic cafes and open chats and narrowed it down to four places, set a date, and went up to Seoul after 3 years.
1. M Clinic Overall the clinic felt kind of luxurious and elegant The consultant was kind too, the doctor looked blunt, but somehow seemed skilled with his hands They said all the scars I had could be improved The example eyes they showed were either not more severe than mine or were not photos with very severe scarring The photos they showed did look pretty in shape, but for some reason they didn’t feel firmly reconstructed, and it felt strongly like only the shape had been prettily refined Of course, they did say they do internal restoration there (This part is just my personal impression)
2. S Clinic I had a consultation with the older one of the 2 doctors He was direct, and I strongly got a rather blunt, brusque feeling (a feeling of a rough consultation + a feeling that because the success rate seemed low with my eyes, he didn’t want to do it) It seems some people say he speaks realistically, but to me, it just felt like he lacked certainty and confidence, and that by talking that way he could later dodge responsibility by saying he had already warned me, depending on the result, so I didn’t like it (He was the only one who said the scars were too severe and would be difficult to completely remove)
3. S Clinic First of all, the doctor was young, and maybe because of his hair, I got the impression he was like an artist The doctor was kind too, and he measured in advance and seemed to have that slightly meticulous, detail-obsessed tendency He said all the scars could be removed. He talked about laser treatment for aftercare The photos he showed were generally clean, so I slightly suspected retouching (just my own guess) Because I did so much online research, I had seen quite a lot saying that if you do double eyelid revision and medial epicanthoplasty restoration together, the pulling tension is in different directions, so doing them together is not good or is not recommended But here they suggested doing double eyelid surgery together, so I asked about it, and they said it was fine, which made me question it, so I put it on hold
4. O Clinic (formerly D Clinic) Since it was in an ophthalmology clinic, I was honestly a bit anxious Because the plastic surgery clinic was inside an ophthalmology clinic, at first, for me, it honestly just felt absurd (My mom also kept asking if it was really a proper place) Among them, there is one person famous for restoration (Everyone probably knows right away) Since I came after hearing from the previous 3 places that my eyes were serious, when consulting I said, like I was desperately pleading, that my eyes were pretty serious After looking, they were the only one who said this degree was not on the severe side. During the consultation, there were a lot of photos similar to my eyes, and also a lot of eyes much more severe than mine (this is what drew me in) I wanted a rounded-pointed shape, and they said that looking at my current medial epicanthoplasty shape, there was a high chance it would come out rounded They said they would absolutely remove all the scars (said it with so much confidence) They seemed to consider internal restoration very important They emphasized that if internal restoration is not done properly, it comes back again They have high-pressure oxygen therapy for aftercare I think they said AS would be free, with only the anesthesia fee paid It was the most expensive of the hospitals I consulted at
In conclusion, I decided to have medial epicanthoplasty restoration at hospital number 4 I’m currently 1 year and 8 months post-op and satisfied The scars disappeared completely, unbelievably, for real.. The shape of the inner corners is round, and the left side feels slightly more closed, so I’m planning to go for a secondary canthoplasty consultation (Other people actually say they can’t really tell it’s uneven..
