Can you feel the difference in my nasal alae when viewed from the front? From the side too, my nostrils looked way too big, and that stressed me out. So whether it was alar reduction or whatever, I wanted to fix the size? the width of the nasal alae..? I guess that’s what I should call it.. anyway, I wanted to fix that spread-out look. It’s been a little over a month, and a lot of the swelling has gone down, right? We were going to use septal cartilage, but there wasn’t enough, so donated costal cartilage was used too. After the surgery, when I heard the explanation, they said it ended up being unavoidable because it wasn’t as firm as expected. I had been informed about that in advance during the consultation, so it didn’t really matter to me. I had admired a high, dramatic nose like celebrities have, and fortunately they said my skin stretches well and is thick, so even if they inserted tall silicone, it wouldn’t show through. So 5 mm of silicone went into the nasal bridge. Because the thickness was substantial, I also had osteotomy and nostril lowering to fix the arrow-shaped nose / bulbous-upturned nose type of shape.
My criteria for choosing the clinic. -A clinic that does not recommend ear cartilage They said they don’t use it because drooping can happen over time. I thought it was a place that matched well with me, since I wanted surgery using septal cartilage + donated costal cartilage. -A clinic with good aftercare The clinic had a separate self-care kit they gave out. I thought it was something absolutely necessary for someone like me who isn’t very meticulous, so I could manage it at home too. If they probably hadn’t given it to me, I don’t think I would have taken care of it separately at home. +It was the first clinic I’d been to that had an adhesion-prevention agent and an anti-inflammatory spray. They use it so the tissues inside the nose don’t get tangled with each other after surgery, and every time I go to the clinic for aftercare so inflammation doesn’t develop, the nurse uses it for me. It seemed like a place with a detailed, well-established care system, so I paid the reservation deposit right away.
After surgery. Only the areas where the osteotomy was done felt like muscle soreness; it didn’t hurt. The swelling was also better than I expected. On day 2, I was surprised because even my eyes swelled up, but after that the swelling kept going down. The area where I had alar reduction is now barely noticeable. Please note that I had surgery using both incisional and non-incisional methods. I’m satisfied because it turned out high and slim, just as I had imagined. The nostril shape also looks pretty from any angle, so that’s a relief. For men here who are considering nose surgery too, I recommend looking at lots of reviews and finding a surgeon who does noses well in a shape similar to what you want. In the end, what matters is that the surgery finishes safely while still giving me a result I like.
