First of all, I had a round face since I was young, and I thought it was just baby fat and would go away, so I took it lightly, you know?
But even after I passed my early 20s and got into my mid-20s, I still looked way too young.. (not in a good baby-faced way) Even when I tried dressing more maturely, it didn’t really suit me, so it was always stressful.. Wherever I went, I got asked for ID too.
So I thought it was because of my round face, and that was my biggest complex! Next, unlike my face shape, my strong, intense eyes were my second source of stress.. how should I put it, cognitive dissonance,,?,,
I could cover it to some extent with makeup haha.. but honestly there are limits. Recently, I had to take a lot of photos for work, and as I kept looking at them, the biggest issues were the harmony between my eyes and other facial features and my face shape, just like I wrote above.... Also, the time spent Photoshopping got way too long and it became really obvious too..
Still, I didn’t want to have surgery Everyone knows. Facial contouring surgery = major surgery.. But no matter how scary it was, as my confidence in my appearance dropped and the stress got worse, I found myself going around consulting at clinics..
The intro got long! First, I narrowed it down to five places while referencing this community, two other well-known plastic surgery forums, and an app!
My narrowing-down criteria were
1. A hospital that is not a large-scale hospital. 2. Whether the hospital had stayed in one location for a long time without moving. (because of medical accidents..) 3. Reference the doctor’s career history. (I felt a bit reluctant about directors who had moved around many plastic surgery clinics)
and so on, but those three criteria were the most important!
Honestly, I don’t think there is any hospital that satisfies every condition haha. Still, I’m fairly satisfied!
But it is definitely not a surgery to take lightly
The swelling lasts a long time.. Since it is done under general anesthesia, it was even harder.. I heard my throat would hurt, but mine swelled especially more and was severe, and I even went to the emergency room at dawn... It was hard to breathe too.. I think about 3 days were miserable. At that time, I really regretted the surgery...
At 7 days, I had the stitches removed, and blood came out from inside my mouth.. I couldn’t eat much early on, so recovery was slow. Sure enough, when I went for follow-up, they said my recovery was a bit slower than others, so the nursing team leader? (wearing different clothes) and the director squeezed out all the areas where blood had collected...
I think swelling and things like that lasted about a month. But definitely, once the swelling went down, it was okay..
Now it has been 4 months! I have no problem opening my mouth now, and as more swelling goes down over time, I feel like my face is getting slimmer, so looking in the mirror makes me so happy. But the surgical process and recovery period were so hard that there were many moments when I wondered why I did it.. Please think carefully after reading my review!
