13 years ago, I had my hump nose shaved down and silicone placed over that area. When I consulted with the doctor, they said the shaved bone could grow back, so silicone had to be inserted, but I said I did not want it. Only after the surgery was over did they tell me they had no choice but to put in silicone. What could I do when it was already in? I lived for 13 years with 1 mm silicone in my nose. The only discomfort I had in daily life was symptoms of rhinitis. Then now, 13 years later, the tip of my nose has gradually started turning red. I don’t know whether it is contracture starting or inflammation. I am looking into hospitals for removal, and I’m leaving this post because I hope everyone thinks carefully about nose surgery. Even if implants do not cause problems right away, you never know when a problem may occur, and keeping them for life means carrying that anxiety with you too.
