Before-after before-after before-after after I had my first surgery in 2018, and exactly 6 years later, I got revision surgery. For the first surgery, I had Gore-Tex and ear cartilage used, and not long after the surgery, my nasal bridge area and nasal tip became red and seemed to develop inflammation. Then it hardened, and eventually I even developed nasal contracture I held out and held out, but eventually, even after removing the entire nasal bridge and tip, the inflammation did not settle, so I went through a lot emotionally. The more time dragged on, the angrier I got. Even though getting angry did not change the situation.
I wondered if my nose might get even a little better if I changed hospitals, so I narrowed it down mainly to places good at contracted nose cases and nasal reconstruction, and got consultations at 7-8 places.
Those getting revision surgery will know, but since the first surgery failed, you end up looking for a hospital for surgery even more carefully. Why were the rhinoplasty revision consultations so much more nerve-racking;;;
During consultations, what I commonly heard was that because the inflammation was severe and both the nasal bridge and tip had been removed, the shape-related issues were also serious, and they said the asymmetry of the nasal bridge and nasal bones was also very severe. The more I heard, there was just nothing good, so I had nothing to say......
At the hospital where I had surgery, there was only one doctor who was an otolaryngology specialist, and maybe because not only my nose but also my mental state looked serious, they comforted me and said it would be okay if I got revision surgery, so I almost teared up... I was torn between two hospitals until the end, but the inflammation was too severe, and I wanted to focus on reconstruction rather than shape, so I ultimately decided on the place with the otolaryngology doctor.
After deciding, the surgery happened faster than I expected, and after I came out of surgery, they said the condition of the cartilage was worse than expected. Since ear cartilage had been used in the first surgery, they said autologous costal cartilage was used for both the nasal bridge and tip, and they paid extra attention with antibiotics and oxygen therapy so that inflammation would not occur.
People who have not gone through this emotional distress will truly never know.. whew The shape was almost completely collapsed, so.. I wondered if this could really be restored.. but it was restored. And I think the shape is prettier than after the previous surgery too..?
I do not want to have surgery anymore.. Please wish for it to stay well like this without inflammation~~
