Before <before revision surgery> After <2 weeks later> AfterAs I wrote in the title, this was my third surgery haha.. My first surgery was non-incisional a few years ago, but it came undone in less than 2 years.. lol Back then, I thought any place recommending ptosis correction was definitely overtreating (among the clinics I consulted, none explained why ptosis correction was needed), so I had surgery at a place that said non-incisional surgery alone would be fine without ptosis correction. Maybe that was the problem, because it seems to have come undone quickly.
The line came undone, but first of all my eye shape was also asymmetrical, so I had revision surgery with incision + ptosis correction to fix the asymmetry and make the line clear again. The line became clear, but the asymmetry improvement I had asked for right up until I entered the operating room was not done at all..^^ The clinic acted like they had done enough and brushed it off.... I did not want to receive AS at a place like that even if they offered it, so I ended up looking into a third surgery.
The first clinic, the second clinic.. both were large clinics that people would recognize by name, but unlike my expectation that a large clinic would have a well-organized system, I actually felt that because there were too many patients, they could not properly manage each person.. So for my third surgery, I deliberately focused on eye-specialized + private clinics. I thought an eye-specialized clinic might be better at difficult revision surgeries, and I went with the hope that a private clinic might provide more detailed care than a large clinic.
I carefully searched through reviews on communities, cafe posts, and apps to narrow down my list. The clinics I had visited earlier did not really give me the feeling of “this is the one,” so I left saying I would go to more consultations. But at the last place I went to, Olo, the AS period was longer than the clinics I had gone to before, and the director immediately noticed the asymmetry area I was stressed about. He said we should make asymmetry improvement the top priority and focus on improving the double eyelid line that looked droopy.... Even though I did not mention it first, he recognized it right away and pinpointed exactly what the priority was, so I even scheduled the surgery for the following week.
My under-eye hollowness was usually severe, so I often heard that I looked hollow-eyed and tired. I had been debating a lot whether to get filler or lower blepharoplasty/fat repositioning. But since I had come all the way to an eye-specialized clinic and was getting eye revision surgery anyway, I decided to do lower eyelid fat repositioning as well. Since my revision surgery had been done by incision, the third surgery was also by incision. The director marked the eye lines several times, had me close and open my eyes, and watched carefully. Then he said it seemed like the ptosis correction had been done unevenly. I wondered what that meant, and he said the muscles on both sides had been tied differently.. Ha;; He said that must have made my eyes look even more uneven. On top of that, the fixed ptosis correction had loosened a lot, so around that time I was hearing a lot that I looked sleepy. I thought this was because of my under-eye hollowness, but it was the ptosis correction coming undone. So I ended up getting incisional revision surgery + ptosis correction + lower eyelid fat repositioning.
After surgery, I had less swelling than I expected. For both my first non-incisional surgery and my incisional revision surgery.... maybe I am especially prone to swelling, but the swelling had been severe and did not go down easily. This time, by the time my stitches were removed, it had gone down a lot, so I was surprised. Of course it still felt slightly unnatural, but I was curious to see it settle once all the swelling went down.
At 2 weeks, it seemed like the double eyelids were a little uneven, so I got scared in advance and complained tearfully to the director a lot. But he calmly told me it was because the swelling had not fully gone down yet, and that once it did, it would settle properly.. He said it was not strange, so I did not need to worry too much, and that calmed me down too ^^;; At the previous clinics, when I went for follow-ups, I had little time to see the director, and because they were busy, I strongly felt they were checking roughly. As someone on my third eye surgery, this was a refreshing shock ^^;
I diligently received the swelling laser treatment provided by the clinic and walked a lot, and just as the director said, I could feel it settling naturally. The asymmetry I was worried about was definitely corrected, and the lower eyelid fat repositioning also turned out naturally, so people say I look much younger and more lively haha. My eye-opening strength is also much better than before, so I am completely satisfied with my third surgery.
Everyone thinking about revision surgery..... please make sure to carefully check what the clinic's care is like, whether the director accurately understands the patient's needs, and whether they are good even at difficult surgeries before getting surgery.
