It has been about 3 months since I had ICL posterior chamber lens implantation.
To start with the conclusion, my satisfaction is the highest, and even considering the cost, I absolutely do not regret it.
My conditions were bad enough that LASIK and LASEK were both said to be difficult, so this was a surgery I looked into because I had no other choice. In the end, there was almost no recovery period, the effect is good, I do not feel any side effects, and my dryness has actually decreased much more compared with when I wore contact lenses, so I am very, very satisfied. When I had my vision checked around 3 weeks after surgery, both eyes were about 1.0, and they said it could improve more going forward.
To give an idea of how it was, I had the examination and surgery on the same day, and a few hours after arriving home, I could already see quite well. The surgery time seemed to take about 15 minutes for both eyes combined.
For several weeks after surgery, I could not exercise and managed it by putting in antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops regularly. From around one month later, they told me I could exercise as much as I wanted and live normally as usual. I was only advised to refrain from rubbing my eyes too strongly.
Anyway, they say the side effects usually associated with lens implantation, like endothelial cell loss, are almost nonexistent with posterior chamber implantation, but eye surgery inevitably comes with worries about side effects, and lens implantation is much more expensive than LASIK or LASEK, so I cannot readily recommend it to others. But I am 100% satisfied, and even if I went back, I would get the surgery again.
