I had three-part facial contouring, bone grafting, and double-chin liposuction. Two weeks after surgery, I had the stitches removed. The inside of my mouth was extremely swollen, I had to hold a stick myself and keep the corner of my mouth pulled open, and every time the nurse(?) cut around the corners with medical scissors, I felt pain like the soft tissue inside my mouth was going to be torn off..
Before stitch removal, they gave me something that looked like a red ginseng extract stick and told me to gargle with it for 1 minute, but I didn’t know it was for anesthesia. They could have at least told me...
I really watched the clock, gargled for exactly 1 minute, and spat it out. The left side was more or less numb from the anesthesia, but the right side and front chin area barely were, and I could feel everything, so when they removed the stitches there, I seriously thought I was going to die.
After that hellish time ended, the nurse told me to rinse my mouth, so I rinsed, and an insane amount of blood came out, which startled me...
It really, really hurts, so if you’re having stitches removed after facial contouring, make sure to gargle the anesthetic thoroughly into every corner before getting it done. Thinking about it now, taking a painkiller like Tylenol beforehand would probably help too.
