Since I got a lot of help from this community, I thought I’d write a review. For reference, the materials were 6 mm silicone and septal cartilage.
<Day of surgery> When I visited the clinic, the nurse in charge explained the precautions after surgery, I filled out the consent form, and then I had the final design consultation and material consultation with the director, which finalized the decision before going into surgery. Even until the very end, I was thinking about the materials and how many mm of silicone would suit me, but I didn’t want something too natural either, so I just decided. The recovery room was also a private room, so I waited there before going into surgery. It felt somehow cozy. Good. I had heard that the operating room could be cold, but I didn’t really feel that way. After hearing “If you feel sleepy, you can sleep,” I opened my eyes and the surgery was just over. lol After the surgery, when I opened my eyes in the recovery room, my throat was so~~~ dry.. I wanted to ask the nurse and gulp down water, but I had no strength in my body and had just woken up from anesthesia, so I was dizzy. I felt kind of like an idiot, but they fulfilled all my requests. They waited until I recovered enough, and when I felt fully clear-headed, I got up, got dressed, called a Kakao Taxi, and quickly went home.
<Day 1~1 week> The week I was really scared.. because after seeing many nose reviews, there were people who said it hurt, so I imagined all sorts of things about how it would be for me. But unlike what I worried about, it didn’t hurt, which was surprising. Instead, the cotton packed my nostrils tightly, so I had to keep breathing through my mouth, which made my jaw hurt and tingle.. Sleeping was uncomfortable, so I couldn’t sleep deeply for the few days before removing the cotton. Even when I ate, I couldn’t really taste anything, so I had no appetite.. haha For a few days I did everything to reduce swelling, sleeping propped up, sleeping sitting up, all sorts of things.. After 3~4 days, the cotton was removed, and since breathing became much easier I thought I’d be able to sleep well, but the blocked nasal discharge started flowing out, and that also contributed to the discomfort.. Still, that lasted only a few days, so if you endure about a week? it seems to be okay~ After removing the splint, life became easier, I met friends and slept well.
<2 weeks~1 month> My friends asked the most where I had it done. Once the bruising and swelling went down and my nose got prettier, taking photos became fun.. My confidence in my appearance went up, so going out became enjoyable and I liked meeting people more. Even so, I didn’t drink alcohol, and I had to be careful about bumping into things, applying lotion, and washing my face, so I went around very carefully.
<1 and a half months> After the treatment schedule ended, it was the first day I met the director for a progress check. The director personally looked at my nose condition and checked how much the swelling had gone down, how the inside of my nose was, and whether there was any scar tissue or adhesion. (I was most worried about adhesions, so I separately bought and used the anti-adhesion product sold by the clinic; keep that in mind too~) It wasn’t a nurse or consultant checking me, but the person who performed the surgery, so when they said I was recovering well, a lot of my worries went away.
<Recent> The consultant repeatedly emphasized to me that swelling can last from 6 months to 1 year. So I was told that the current shape may not stay exactly as it is, and that I need to carefully check how it settles and how the swelling goes down. They said if I feel anxious about the progress and want to come in again, I should message them on KakaoTalk and they would help connect me with the director.
<Result> The hump that was visible from the front improved, and the nasal alar area that looked spread out because of my bulbous nose also became thinner. It extends straight, so somehow I look smart.. lol That’s how it is. It’s true I had cosmetic surgery, but I also treated the rhinitis I had usually, all at once. (2 functional procedures: deviated septum + inferior turbinate hypertrophy) Breathing is much easier and I can smell better too. I also received a 1 million won reimbursement for functional nose surgery~
