Before before before after after after Hello : ) This is my 4-month review of double jaw surgery + 3 types of facial contouring at ㅇㅇㄷ Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
1. Reason for surgery Ever since I was young, I lacked confidence in my appearance. I had a strong desire to become prettier, but no matter how I did my makeup or changed my clothes or hairstyle, it never satisfied that desire. At some point, I found myself comparing myself to pretty friends and seeing my self-esteem drop. My biggest complexes were severe asymmetry and a square jaw. When COVID started and I began wearing a mask, those two complexes were covered, so I became a little more confident. But when COVID ended and the time came to take masks off again, I became very worried and started looking for a solution. I looked into facial contouring massages and orthodontic treatment, but because of the cost, time investment, and uncertain degree of change, I felt that those wouldn't be enough. Just then, someone very close to me had experience getting surgery at Yangyundol, and seeing the clear before-and-after difference and how satisfied they are now made me decide to have surgery.
2. Consultation I only had a consultation at Yangyundol and proceeded there. The reason was that someone very close to me had consulted at about 3-4 places before surgery and chose Yangyundol, so I trusted that friend and chose Yangyundol too. I met with the consultant and the director and talked about my concerns about my face shape and possible solutions. Until then, I had only ever gone to hospitals because I was sick, and it was my first time visiting one for my appearance, so I was nervous. But thanks to the staff who kindly guided me and the consultant and director who explained things in detail, I felt a bit more comfortable. I was scared of major surgery, so I only wanted the minimum amount of surgery, and the consultant and director honestly told me that it would be okay to proceed with just the lower jaw. But after a lot of thought, since I was doing it anyway, my desire to become prettier won out, so I ended up doing double jaw surgery as well.
3. Recovery process Even now, 4 months later, those were 2 weeks I never want to go through again.. I had surgery using the IVRO method, so I lived with an appliance in my mouth for 2 weeks and could only drink liquids. During the 3 days I was hospitalized, there were staff I could rely on and ask for help when things were hard, so it wasn't mentally difficult. But because my nose was swollen and I had an appliance in my mouth, breathing was so hard and frustrating.. After I came home, I couldn't properly lie down to sleep, breathe, or eat, and since all my family members went to work and I was alone, it was even harder. Still, the director said that I had to eat whatever liquids I could, take my medicine well, and walk diligently for the swelling to go down quickly and for recovery, so I really worked hard for those 2 weeks.. Until the 1-month mark, what I could eat was limited, but after a month, I ate well, slept well, and was so happy.
4. Changes Of course, compared with the first month, a lot of the swelling has gone down, but I think there is still quite a bit left. Especially in the morning, everyone is swollen, right? Because it's swelling + swelling, my face looks bigger than it did the previous evening, photos don't come out well, and so on.. But when I recently visited the clinic, both the staff member I hadn't seen in a while and the director told me a lot of the swelling had gone down, so I'm not worried! Since the external change is big, I think the psychological change is big too. I'm honestly surprised at how confident I've become.
5. Satisfaction These days, I feel extremely satisfied, thinking that if I hadn't had surgery, I would still be comparing myself to others and getting stressed every time I went out because I cared about people's gazes. People I meet for the first time don't even know I had surgery and compliment me, saying my face is so small and pretty. It kind of feels like I'm lying, but still, this is my face now.. haha Because of the remaining swelling, I still have a double chin, and my jawline moves around all day and only becomes visible at night, but I'm so happy that the face shape itself, which had been my source of stress, has been resolved.
6. Other They say swelling can last up to 1 year. I'm already satisfied now, so I'm looking forward to how I'll look when all the swelling is gone. I love you, ㅇㅇㄷ Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
