I lived for almost 30 years without thinking much about my appearance. I dated a few times too, and I thought my looks were just reasonably masculine and not a problem. (My opinion)
There is a clinic near my company that I go to once a month for things like toning, hair removal, and Botox, and I got familiar with the director there and became a bit close. So they would just speak comfortably to me, and at some point they started telling me that if I got nose surgery, it would be amazing. (That place only does procedures.) People’s minds are strange. I did not really have any complaints, but when a doctor kept saying that next to me, it started to sound right lol So they told me to at least go for a consultation and gave me the name of a director who was their university classmate(?). They said they had already sent some of their staff and acquaintances for rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty, and all of them were successful. I went for a consultation, and the hospital was so modern. I thought it was some minimalist coffee shop. (The complete opposite of the clinic I go to.)
I arrived at my appointment time, and everything moved along with almost no waiting. I had a CT scan, and the director quickly did a virtual simulation with Photoshop. It was insanely fascinating. If it turned out just like that, I would have wanted to bow in thanks (and it actually turned out almost the same). But they said my septal cartilage was a bit small, so donor rib cartilage would be needed. Too bad.. They said autologous costal cartilage was possible too, but it would be a bit excessive for a first surgery. Still, it was within my expected budget, so I paid the deposit.
After paying the deposit, it started to feel real. I suddenly got scared, joined this community, searched posts, got even more scared, asked questions, and made a whole fuss. lol
- Surgery day As expected, the atmosphere was quiet. Surgery prep proceeded calmly. When changing clothes, I wore disposable underwear for the first time. Somehow I disliked it. lol When the director did the preoperative design, they were very realistic. Since my face is crooked, some crookedness in the nose will remain. If it is raised too much, the nose will look even more crooked. Virtual simulation is only virtual simulation, and there are many cases where it does not come out like that. The eyes also do not come out exactly the same (I did non-incisional eye-shape correction together). Anyway, the director here is not the type to build up expectations. (The complete opposite of the clinic I go to lol)
When I went into the operating room, the staff welcomed me warmly. They were probably all younger than me, but somehow it felt comforting. They placed the IV/injection well without making it hurt.
When the surgery was over, I was in the recovery room. I was cold and thirsty. It did not hurt much. They kept being kind. Staff came by a few times, and the director also came by two or three times.
- Same day I think the nasal packing made things a bit hard, but after a month I do not really remember it. I was fascinated while watching the surgery-room photos and videos the hospital sent me.
-Next day I went to get the nasal packing removed. Everyone was kind. I got an injection, and again they placed it well without pain.
-Day 2 to week 1 Because of the tape and the oiliness around it, my appearance was kind of a mess. Since I kept wearing a mask, it felt like even more things were breaking out on my face.
-Week 1 I had the splint removed, stitches taken out, photos taken, and came home. They removed the stitches well without pain too. At week 2, the director also checked my swelling, I received swelling laser? care, and went home.
-1 month It is still uncomfortable that I cannot blow my nose, so it feels a bit stuffy and like I get more boogers. Everything else seems fine.
I was going to write in more detail, but there is nothing special to write ^^;;
Before surgery and right after it, I was so nervous that I kept coming into this community, but now that I can live normally, I do not come in much.
I am still bothered that the left and right sides look a bit different.. For now, I am almost 90% satisfied.
