Before <before surgery> After <1 month after surgery> Around fall 2023, I had double eyelid surgery for the first time at Iwabaek Plastic Surgery. My upper eyelids are somewhat thick with fat, the skin tissue is also on the thicker side, and my eyeballs protrude slightly. Since it was fall, the operating room felt a bit warm, but they adjusted it to a suitable temperature with the air conditioner. There was one director, and I’m not sure whether there was one nurse or two, but there were nurses present. During the consultation, I trusted the doctor, so I decided to have the surgery. They said men’s eye surgery is done without making the line too high, but I wanted a slight line to show when my eyes were open, so I had surgery with about a 6 mm line. I had local anesthesia, epicanthoplasty was done first, then the double eyelid surgery. During the operation, when they were setting the line, I opened and closed my eyes several times, and then it was finished. I think the surgery took about 1 hour + 20 minutes.
Looking at the 1-month mark, the epicanthoplasty was not as pointed like a bird’s beak as I expected, but turned out rounded, so it showed less. Still, I do feel a bit regretful and wish it had been opened a little more, but I think natural is better. Maybe because there was a lot of surgical trauma from thick skin, trimming loose skin, removing eye fat, and so on, the swelling was quite severe. Now that it has been about a month, the major swelling has gone down, but there is still quite a lot of swelling left. The line is higher than I expected, so I’m a little worried, but I’m waiting calmly while thinking that it will come down once the swelling goes down, and that being slightly high now might actually be better. I was told the swelling could last 3 months if it goes down quickly, or 6 months to 1 year if it is slow, so I’m waiting patiently while exercising too.
