Before<before>Before<before>Before<before>After<after>After<after>After<after>It’s now been almost 3 weeks. First of all, as soon as the director here saw me, he pinpointed the issues I wanted to address really well, and he was cheerful, so I trusted him and went ahead with it.
Oh, to briefly summarize what people may be curious about regarding pain before and after surgery: for me, general anesthesia was surprisingly painful After that, the pain during the 1-day hospital stay after surgery was really okay. Of course it varies by person, but for me... from day 2, I could even eat regular meals... The blood drainage tube was, um, honestly okay lol. In terms of pain, about a 1... And regular meals are usually recommended starting from one week! Mouth gargling is really important. You have to disinfect very thoroughly. Also, taking lots of light walks definitely helps a lot with reducing swelling. And this may vary case by case, but for me, actually after one week, when I ran out of antibiotics, from then on it felt like after having wisdom teeth removed, with a lot of throbbing... it really hurt. Honestly, I think this was the most painful part... So either get plenty of prescribed medication, or if it hurts, it’s better to go to the hospital quickly... I think taking your medicine properly is important too. Don’t stop taking it midway just because it doesn’t hurt! Lastly, when the stitches are removed at week 2, everyone says this is hell, and I was really scared too... but it really didn’t hurt at all... For me haha. Maybe it depends on the practitioner’s technique.. lol It just wasn’t even stinging, and it was just like, ah, I keep my mouth open for about 5 minutes and it’s over, so I hope you don’t get too scared!
For the surgery, my cheekbones were moved in about 6 mm, and for the square jaw, they said the line was sagging like a clothesline, so they didn’t cut it dramatically, and only slightly trimmed the bottom. Of course, I didn’t want a dog-like jaw, so the mandibular angle under the ear was not touched at all. But since I originally barely had a boundary between my neck and jaw, the director also said it wasn’t fat but that my salivary glands were large, and he said there could be some sagging, but even if it may not show in photos, it doesn’t seem like it sagged a lot... so I feel relieved.
What I personally feel for now is that originally my cheekbone area protruded and the side didn’t show well in photos, but before it was really sunken, and it has improved so much, so I’m really happy haha. The cheekbones also definitely weren’t pushed in too much, and I think he preserved a good degree of three-dimensionality.
I honestly wasn’t planning to do the square jaw, but the left side always looked a bit saggy like jowls, and it was also asymmetrical So I ended up doing the square jaw too. They said the bone on my left side was thick. Then he let me touch a skull bone model and explained in detail why that was, so he said he would make it flat by doing cortical bone reduction.
As for the result, maybe because I did it together with the cheekbones, the square jaw area and cheek/cheekbone area are still a bit puffy, so I can’t really tell yet, but the overall line has become softer, so I’m satisfied. Of course, what I want is for the front view to look a bit sharper, but I’m still not sure yet
The side view wasn’t something I was extremely concerned about originally lol, and even after surgery I can’t really tell if there’s a hugely dramatic change lol. Since my salivary glands are quite large and my neck and jaw connect in the side view, it just seems so-so. I was worried the skin would sag more from here, but it’s not to that extent, so I’m just relieved lol.
