After graduating from university, I got lucky and ended up working as a pole dance instructor. Since I meet a lot of people, my cheekbones and jawline, which I normally did not pay much attention to, kept catching my eye. I had known about my facial asymmetry since high school, but it felt even more noticeable as I became an adult. It’s not a job where appearance is judged, but since I often stand in front of members and demonstrate moves, I naturally started thinking about contour surgery too. When I told my friends about my concern, they said, "When you go to a gym, you naturally notice the trainer’s face too, right? Wouldn’t it be similar for members?" After hearing that, I really started looking into a lot of reviews about facial asymmetry and contour surgery haha. I asked my friends too and searched online, and narrowed it down to about two or three clinics to visit for consultations. One place was known for doing contour surgery well, but the style of the review photos was a little different from what I wanted, and at another place, I did not feel like it was a good fit during the consultation. The last clinic, honestly, I visited without expecting much, but the consultation there was actually the easiest to understand. They showed example photos and explained which parts of my face would be good to refine, and said it would be better to proceed in a way that matches my facial proportions rather than shaving too much. They also said my facial asymmetry was not just because of the camera angle, but that there was some left-right difference in the bone structure as well. In my case, they explained that if the surgical plan took that difference into account, the change could be relatively easy to see, but before surgery I really could not picture how much it would change haha. Honestly, I was so nervous on the day of surgery that my memory is blurry Still, during the first few days after contour surgery, I was a bit uncomfortable because of the swelling, and after about two weeks daily life became much easier. About two months after stitch removal, the major swelling was almost gone and even the remaining swelling was less noticeable than before, so from that point on I started enjoying taking photos. Rather than looking too artificially sharp like the photos I had searched for, my facial line felt smoothly refined overall, which I liked. Members also tell me these days that my vibe seems different or that I look prettier, and that makes me happy for no reason and boosts my self-esteem haha. What I’m most satisfied with is that my facial asymmetry is less noticeable than before and my jawline has been naturally refined. When I take front-facing photos, the left-right difference does not bother me as much as before, and my face line looks a bit slimmer too, so I’m happy with it. I wrote this down because there may be people like me who worry about the difference between the left and right sides of the face. It may not produce the exact same result for everyone, but I think it is important to consult several clinics and find the direction that suits your own face. I also got a lot of help from other people’s reviews, so I hope this post can be of some help too!
