Because I was told that LASEK is safer and more conservative than LASIK, I chose LASEK. I also consulted at several hospitals, but the hospital I chose had this doctor's own 2 Day LASEK technique, which has the advantages of quick recovery and being able to remove the protective lens after just two days, so I decided on it. I had worn glasses since second grade and had also worn cosmetic contact lenses for more than 15 years, so I had severe high astigmatism and myopia. Before surgery my left was -5.0 and my right was -5.5; after surgery my vision became 1.0 in both eyes and 1.5 binocular vision. The pain after surgery was so severe that I hurt a lot, but after two days I gradually started being able to see and felt like I had finally found the light. I even regretted not having the surgery earlier. I did develop dry eye syndrome, but now, 5 years later, I am very satisfied and doing well.
