Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

I put up with my jaw slipping for years, then had double-jaw surgery and even my face shape changed. Two birds with one stone!

Here is my 2-month review after having double-jaw surgery plus contouring in three areas (cheekbones, square jaw, and chin) from Director Shin Hee-jin ^^ I had the surgery at Leeu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and because of my Class II malocclusion, I had a habit of pulling my lower jaw forward when eating, speaking, and going about daily life. As that built up over time, it strained my jaw, and the jaw would make sounds and slip out repeatedly. Later, it even got to the point where my jaw would slip out while I was talking, so I felt I really needed treatment and started looking into surgery. One side of my jaw disc had already slipped out a lot and become worn down, so I was a case that needed double-jaw surgery. Since I was going to have surgery anyway, I decided to correct the cheekbones and chin too, which had been my lifelong complex. I had known about the hospital for a long time from YouTube and cafes, but while researching it directly, I looked through tons of reviews and videos and also visited several places for consultations. But Leeu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery felt different because even the tests before the consultation were very systematic and detailed. The consultation with the director was not just an explanation either; he went through my condition one by one, which made me trust them a lot, so I decided right away. It has been 2 months now, and recovery is faster than I expected, so daily life is going almost without problems. I can eat most things as long as they are not too hard or too chewy, after cutting them into small pieces. I can still only fit about two fingers into my mouth, but it is clearly improving little by little compared with the beginning, so I am not too worried. At first I was flustered because the muscles felt a little awkward when talking and the area around my mouth felt like it would not move the way I wanted, but that is also gradually loosening up, so I think of it as part of the adjustment process~! I can feel sensation in the chin and under-eye area when I touch them, but they still have a dull anesthetic-like feeling. I was told that this sensation will return gradually, so I am waiting. I removed the wafers a little after one month, and now I only wear rubber bands before sleeping, so everyday life is much more comfortable. Since orthodontic treatment is also ongoing, I can clearly feel the bite coming together, and functionally I can tell it is improving too. Before, discomfort from my jaw was part of daily life, but now that has been reduced a lot, so I really wish I had done it sooner T_T. Still, above all, I can feel that my overall impression has softened as my face shape became more refined, so I do think this is a surgery with very high satisfaction ^^ I am still in the recovery process, so it does not feel completely natural yet, but thinking that it will settle even more over time makes me look forward to it. For anyone worried about double-jaw surgery or double-jaw plus contouring, I think one clear advantage is that it improves both function and appearance at the same time. That is my 2-month review~
