I had non-surgical orthodontic correction because of a sunken midface and prognathism, but the results were poor, so while I was doing pre-orthodontic treatment at a university hospital, I ended up having surgery at Y Oral Clinic. When I was consulting, I live in the provinces, so I could not visit many hospitals because I wanted to finish everything in one day, and I only visited three places. Among them, the reason I chose Y Oral Clinic was that they operate on only one patient per day and I could watch the CCTV in real time. Also, when I looked at the director's career history for surgical experience, I realized he had truly extensive experience, and these were the reasons I decided to have the surgery at Y Oral Clinic even while doing pre-orthodontic treatment at a university hospital.Day 1 (Double-jaw surgery, two contouring procedures: square jaw + chin on the same day) I live in the provinces, so I came up to Seoul the day before, slept at a friend's place, and came to the hospital in the morning! Before coming to Seoul, I was a little anxious because there was less to prepare than I expected, but the hospital had everything, so I could stay comfortably during the hospitalization period. The manager sends a KakaoTalk message telling you to bring the items needed before surgery, and just bringing those was enough. I went into surgery around 10:30 and came out around 2:00, I think. My mom came as my guardian, and after surgery I had to get the anesthesia gas out, so I was not supposed to sleep, but I kept getting sleepy Still, I held on because my mom kept talking to me. Originally I was not supposed to sleep until 8:00, but after my mom left, I kept dozing off and waking up I had almost no pain or nausea, but my throat was so dry that it was hard. The heat and swelling were difficult, but as soon as it was time to drink water, I gulped it down. It was almost like a religious ritual... At night I was so uncomfortable that I hardly slept My nose was blocked so I had to breathe through my mouth, and my throat hurt a lot too. Still, because my nose was a little open, I could breathe through it little by little, so during the hospitalization period I had to breathe through my mouth, and I kept the humidifier very close and drank water often. The nurse kept coming by and changing my ice packs, and whenever there was anything uncomfortable, she took care of it right away! I was so grateful. Day 2 In the morning, they removed the urinary catheter and also the drainage tube. It was much more comfortable! While removing the drainage tube, they also had me bite on a wafer. At first it did not fit, so I was nervous, but when I asked the doctor, he said I did not need to keep biting on it and should just practice fitting it to the wafer when I bit down. But because I was breathing through my mouth, I could hardly do it lol Later, the swelling got worse and it did not fit even more. Still, after about two days, it became a little more comfortable. Still, it was much better than the first day, so I walked around the hospital and watched Netflix. But I kept dozing off and waking up in between, so I have no idea how many times I hit rewind In the evening, a friend came by, and while I was writing, we talked and I woke up a bit! Just like on the first day, I kept putting the humidifier close at night and dozing off and waking up, waiting only for discharge Day 3 On discharge day, my dad drove up and I was discharged comfortably! He was a little late, but they were considerate and discharged me a little later. My nose was a little more open, but it was still uncomfortable, so I kept the humidifier on my face the whole way home in the car The swelling seemed to get even worse, so I felt completely drained. When I got home, I drank NewCare and took my medicine, but the antibiotic was so big that it was hard to swallow Still, later I figured out how to take it and managed well! The swelling definitely got worse after coming home, but because I was more comfortable, I felt better overall. When I slept, I had to sleep sitting up, and my butt hurt so much and my lower back hurt too that I could not sleep well Days 4 to 7 Gradually my nose opened up more, so I felt much better Since I had to take medicine three times a day, my routine was just drinking NewCare and taking medicine over and over... I had almost no pain, so I did not take the prescribed painkillers! And I got used to drinking from a cup quickly, so from day 5 onward I kept using a cup! Gatorade, banana milk, and so on... I tried to drink tasty beverages as much as possible. And I could not brush my teeth, so I felt so gross!!!!!!!! I was just waiting for the one week mark while repeating the same life... going for walks sometimes... and whenever I went to the supermarket, I would go straight to the beverage aisle. That was my life. One week after surgery, when I went to the hospital, I took the bus! I wore a hat, my face strap, and a mask, fully geared up At the hospital, they disinfected the area, checked the X-ray taken on day 2 after surgery, and I also got swelling laser treatment. When they disinfected, I almost cried a little... Still, from then on I could remove the wafer, eat liquids, and brush my teeth!! I bought a baby toothbrush at Daiso, but I do not recommend it... the bristles are stronger than I expected So I am using it to clean the wafer lol I recommend ordering one in advance online. Week 2 This was the period when the swelling, which had peaked, started to go down. Finally, Face ID started working again... lol Because of the stitches, I did not want to eat anything with chunks, so for two weeks I only drank NewCare and beverages. Before surgery, I bought some in advance and tried them, and I stocked up on one box each of the savory flavor and the black sesame flavor! If you drink it for two weeks, the count works out exactly Once the swelling definitely went down a bit, it became much more comfortable. I went for walks and took my medicine. At the week-2 appointment, they removed the stitches, and it hurt so much... it was the worst pain since surgery. While they were removing the stitches, I was sweating cold sweat and pinching my hand After gargling with water, it even bled... Still, once the stitches were out, it felt completely refreshing!! As soon as I got home, I crushed Sari Gomtang, soaked it, chopped it finely with scissors, and ate it. It was the best food after surgery... Week 3 I was so happy to start eating foods with pieces in them I ate steamed eggs, made risotto, and ate everything I could as long as it did not require chewing! There was no appointment in week 3, so I went for occasional walks at home and rode an indoor bike. Week 4 The day before my appointment, I met friends, and they asked if I had hidden food in my cheeks... lol But it had gone down a lot. I still have plenty of swelling, but wearing a mask is too annoying, so I have been going around without one... At the one-month appointment, they took facial photos, took X-rays, and I was finally able to chew So moving... I thought they would also remove the wafer, but because Lunar New Year was in between, I had to go to orthodontics a little later, and they said I had to keep it in until then. It was a pity, but I decided to be grateful for being able to chew! Comparing the photos of my face before surgery, it was clear that my face had become shorter! I hope the swelling goes down quickly Month 2 When I went to orthodontics, they said I had become so pretty, and I was in such a good mood The professor asked who it was There was still some swelling, but I just met friends without wearing a mask, and Western food was the easiest for me to eat, so I ate a lot of Western food. Month 3 In month 3, the swelling started to go down slowly And it was more noticeable to me than when it was at its worst. In particular, I only had that little candy-like swelling sticking out, so I kept worrying whether it was really going down. Still, my mom said it seemed to be going down little by little, so I relaxed a bit... As my bite gradually settled, I wanted to eat meat I could not eat so badly that I only ate a little sliced pork belly. After the month-3 appointment, I ate tteokbokki right away that same day!!! At the appointment, I looked at the before-and-after surgery photos, and they were really amazing... It was definitely different from seeing it in selfies. I immediately told the doctor thank you ㅎㅅㅎ And I think my sensation came back pretty quickly, because I have almost 100 percent sensation in my face, and the roof of my mouth feels tingly and like it will come back soon! Aside from the roof of my mouth, I do not feel any side effects from the surgery at all. I am so, so satisfied. Even if I went back, I would have the surgery at Y Oral Clinic again!!! People around me say I seem younger after the surgery and that having the surgery was so much better My parents, who had been seeing my face before surgery for over 20 years, now say the before-surgery photos look stranger. Right now, three months after surgery, I sleep freely again, started working out again, and it seems like I can eat everything except radish cubes, pickled radish, and nuts! I can open my mouth wider than three fingers now. The reactions from people around me make the surgery feel even more and more satisfying. I hope everyone who is considering double-jaw surgery or has already had surgery gets good results.
