Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

Honest 3-in-1 jaw surgery and contouring review

Hello. It has been 6 months since I had double jaw surgery and 3-in-1 contouring surgery at Wih Hospital, which included cheekbone, square jaw, and chin surgery. I have long lived with a lot of stress because of my underbite and my side profile. I especially hated being photographed. Even more than the front view, being photographed from the side was so stressful. My chin looked long and my face had a strong overall flat feeling, so every time I looked at photos my confidence dropped a lot. I also often heard that I looked angry when my face was relaxed, and in fact I was often told that my first impression felt cold, so I always worried about that as well. After hearing that braces alone would not solve it, I thought long and hard and decided to undergo double jaw surgery. Before the surgery, I was honestly scared and very worried. I had heard so much about the recovery being difficult that I agonized over it for a long time, but not wanting to leave it as a lifelong complex felt even stronger. I am now 6 months post-op, and as time passes I can feel the changes in my face settling in more naturally. Right after surgery and even at the 3-month mark, swelling was still bumpy, so I felt quite awkward looking in the mirror. My facial line still felt hard and swollen, and I worried a lot about when it would become natural. But after about 6 months, most of the major swelling had gone down and the overall contour of my face became much softer. It is still not the final result, but compared with before, the facial proportions are definitely much different. In particular, the line at the tip of my chin became neater, so my expression looks much softer, and the side profile changed the most. Before, the side line felt stiff and long, but now the overall balance feels much more natural and smoothly connected. What I personally like is not just that my face shape changed, but that my expression itself feels much more relaxed. In the early period after surgery, the area around my mouth was very stiff, so even smiling felt awkward and speaking was uncomfortable, but I improved a lot by consistently doing the mouth exercises and facial exercises the hospital taught me. These days, smiling feels much more natural than before, and taking photos is less stressful too. There is still a little residual swelling and some numbness, but it keeps improving with time, so I am not under much stress. I also realized how important management is during the recovery period, and I have become much more careful about my eating habits and daily routine than before. Of course, double jaw surgery is not an easy operation, and the recovery period is longer than expected, so I think you need to think carefully before deciding. But for someone like me who has been stressed for a long time because of the jaw or face shape, I think this is a surgery that can really change your quality of life. So far I am extremely satisfied with my decision, and I am continuing to manage things while looking forward to the swelling going down more and the result settling in haha
