Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

Curious about recovery after contouring + double jaw surgery? Click here (1 month to 1 year)

It has already been 1 year since I had double jaw surgery from Dr. Kim Jong-yoon at [Clinic A]. At first, I went to a neighborhood dental clinic because of dental treatment, and the dentist himself recommended double jaw surgery, saying he felt much better after having it. That was what led me to it. After that, I searched through a lot of hospital reviews. I decided on [Clinic A] because the reviews looked natural and the satisfaction level seemed high ^^ Now that it has been 1 year, I整理ed my progress month by month from 1 month to 1 year in case it helps anyone who is considering double jaw and contouring surgery like I did, so please use it as reference and I hope everyone has a safe and successful surgery ^^♡ 1 month: I was able to increase the amount I ate faster than expected, so I did not live only on porridge. I managed with soft foods like ice cream, pudding, silken tofu, and castella. I also started light strength training at home, and I could feel my lost stamina gradually returning. I kept doing jaw joint exercises, and I recovered enough to fit about two fingers. The swelling also went down slowly, and I was able to go out little by little without a mask. 2 months: The range of foods started to increase little by little, and my weight started to come back. I mostly ate soft foods like tofu, eggs, and fish, and if I cut them into small pieces, there were more foods than I expected that I could manage. Facial swelling decreased a lot, and I felt much more natural than before. I pushed myself too hard with exercise and ended up straining my knee, so I got treatment too, but I think it is really important not to overdo it during recovery. 3 months: Soft ordinary foods became possible to some extent, and my pronunciation gradually improved ^^ The swelling and the feeling of sagging skin were getting better little by little, and I had recovered to the point where I could do social life. From this period on, it really felt like I was returning to daily life again haha 4 months: Life became so much more comfortable that I would forget when I even had surgery~ Eating got faster, most foods became possible, and my stamina improved quite a bit, so I started weight training and light exercise again. There is still a slight inconvenience when speaking because of orthodontic treatment, but people around me did not realize I had surgery lol 5 months: Because of the braces, eating is not completely comfortable, but I can eat most things well. I keep doing mouth exercises and pronunciation practice, and my face also feels like it is gradually settling into a more natural shape. Since eating became more free, I am also feeling the importance of weight management. 6 months: Once half a year passed, things became really much more comfortable. I still have to be careful with chewy or hard foods, but most foods were fine if I ate slowly. I was often told that my face had become extremely natural, and I also heard more than once that people would not know I had surgery unless I told them. My stamina had also come back to almost pre-surgery levels ^^ 7 months: I had some of the screws near my front teeth removed, and it became much more comfortable. The orthodontic work was also visibly getting more organized, and eating at gatherings was not very inconvenient. Overall, it felt like I was recovering steadily and well. 8 months: I can eat ordinary food almost without any problems. I still have a little difficulty with pronunciation because of the braces, or sometimes it feels like my mouth gets bitten inside, but everyday life itself has become much more comfortable again, almost like before surgery. Around this time, rather than big changes, I liked the feeling of things naturally settling into place. 9 months: Daily life was completely stable, and my facial lines kept settling in more naturally. I am managing it with regular massage and exercise, and people around me say I do not look awkward at all, which makes me happy. 10 months: After the major orthodontic stage ended and I entered the detailed adjustment stage, pronunciation and eating were a little inconvenient. Still, overall it felt like a stable period, and I became much more conscious of my habits, so it seems to be changing into a healthier pattern. 11 months: I can eat almost everything comfortably, and my stamina has recovered a lot, so I can do most kinds of exercise. I still need management because of the braces, but I am satisfied because I can see my teeth getting more organized day by day. And now, the long-awaited 1-year mark has come. Some people say I look much better after the surgery, and I seem to hear a lot that I became prettier. Every time I hear something nice, I think I really made the right choice by having double jaw surgery. I am still not completely used to orthodontic treatment, but hearing that I look prettier still makes me happy every time. Because of the braces, my pronunciation still does not feel perfectly exact, and food still gets stuck a little, but I think there are still days ahead when it will be much more comfortable once the braces are removed, so it feels entirely manageable ^^ If I am just a little careful with foods that get stuck easily in braces or foods that are too hard, daily life is now comfortable enough to be almost completely possible. The pain around the chin and mouth is now almost gone, and the numbness or tingling has improved a lot as well. Maybe because I am older, there is still a bit of skin sagging that cannot be helped lol, but overall the satisfaction is greater, so I think having the surgery at [Clinic A] was a really good decision~
