Skin Treatment Reviews

Lumiere Community Review

I am getting treatment for the underarm and upper-lip areas. The doctor in charge for my second session was meticulous, but the doctor who handled my third session was such a disappointment. The clinic is clean, and the staff in the treatment rooms are kind.

1. The website says they use laser equipment customized for each individual, but in the hair-removal room the only laser labeled there is "Bikini." I have never seen any other laser hair-removal device there. They used the Bikini laser for both the second and third sessions, and I could not check the first session because it was too hectic. Anyway, all three sessions used a gel and a contact-type laser on the skin. It hurt! 2. About a quarter of the middle part of my left underarm was not removed at all, so I asked the doctor, "Why is this area much less effective?" They ran the laser over it twice and, while leaving, said, "I don't know" lol. I was so stunned for a moment I almost argued, but I just decided I should not go on days when that doctor is there. I even told them the left side was less treated, but they didn't even look properly and were done in five seconds per underarm. Of course they didn't make even the slightest extra effort for the left side. For the upper lip, they fired exactly four shots, one after another! For the underarm, they barely skimmed over it. The person next to me was treated the same way: both underarms were finished in 10 seconds. I guess this is how they can offer that price because they use so few shots. 3. The machine here is outdated too, and after today's experience I lost all desire for laser treatment, so I had my legs and arms done at another clinic with Apogee Plus. Apogee Plus hurts way, way less than Lumiere's laser. And that was on my calves, which have even more hair! That place was also cheaper than Lumiere, so I paid upfront for 5 sessions on arms and calves. I still don't know the results for the arms and legs.

Overall, the underarm hair removal was not ineffective, so I can't say much just based on the result alone (the right side was decent, the left side was meh...), but if I went to another Gangnam clinic, I think I'd pay about the same and get similar results anyway. There are probably many places with better equipment and friendlier doctors... I have also heard doctors on YouTube say that hair removal depends a lot on the equipment. Since I paid less, I don't even expect a gentle, sweet doctor or for them to check my hair-removal status every session and do everything for me. But this is too much, isn't it? lol If they had clearly said one side was not done well, at least they should have acted like they were listening. Otherwise the left side won't get any treatment effect either lol T_T Except for the doctor in the second session and the kind staff, everything else was generally disappointing, and the empty "I don't know" I heard today will probably stay in my head for a while.
