Hello. It has been six months since I had SSRO double-jaw surgery and two contouring procedures (square-jaw reduction + chin surgery) at [Clinic A]~!
Since elementary school, I had a long-jawed face shape. I wanted to improve it with orthodontic treatment, but was told surgery would be difficult while I was a student, so I proceeded with orthodontics only.
From upper elementary school, during puberty, I had severe concerns about my jaw. Because my jaw was longer than other people's and asymmetric, I would strike poses trying somehow to cover it with my hand, especially when taking photos. Even when I was with friends, I was teased about my face with remarks such as, “It looks like your jaw will fall off when you smile,” or “It seems like your jaw grew while I did not see you.” It made me so sad that I even thought about cutting off my jaw T_T
I often thought that I wanted to have an ordinary face shape too, and that I wanted to be able to wear a turtleneck comfortably in winter.
I wanted double-jaw surgery as an adult, but because of the practical cost issue, I lived thinking there was nothing I could do. But even after turning 30, I was again teased about my jaw at work. I came to think that I could not escape this long jaw without surgery... and that I could not put it off any longer.
When I took photos after surgery, it was so fascinating that my face looked different from both the front and side. Whether photographed from the front or side, my face came out with an ordinary face shape like everyone else's, which was amazing. I was happy thinking, “I finally seem to have an ordinary person's face too.” Now I can take photos without covering my jaw, and I have gained confidence when meeting other people.
At my current six-month mark, time has passed so quickly that I wonder where it went. I am eating a wide variety of foods now, to the point that there are no foods I cannot eat. haha
The scars inside my mouth have now completely healed, and they feel flat when I run my tongue over them. It seems fair to say that I am now almost like I was before surgery haha
As for satisfaction, until one week after surgery, it was unbearably painful and uncomfortable, and I struggled with thoughts of why I had undergone it. But now I think I did well to have surgery. Beyond simply becoming prettier, I am grateful that a surgery exists that can resolve the stress and complex I carried throughout my life.
Now I am satisfied with photos from every angle. I especially like feeling as if I have an ordinary face like everyone else haha
What is especially good is that the surgery was done naturally to suit my face, so people do not realize at all that I had double-jaw surgery unless I tell them. When I tell them I had surgery, they only then realize it; before that, they think I simply lost weight.
I am currently six months post-op. I have exercised consistently, starting with light exercise from month three, and now I have recovered enough in daily life to comfortably run 10 km.
As my face has been beautifully refined, I am taking lots of photos too. Those considering surgery will naturally deliberate a lot, but regardless of the cost, I think double-jaw surgery can change your mindset and actions as you live your life. I recommend it.
