I was concerned about my facial shape because my face is on the long side, and among that, the midface is long and my square jaw is a bit pronounced. In particular, I was worried about the strong impression and masculine lines caused by my strong features. When I took photos, my facial shape stood out two or three times more than my other features, so I always had to edit only my face shape when taking pictures, or I just avoided taking good photos altogether.
For these reasons, I decided on contour surgery to make my impression more feminine and soft while also correcting my long face shape, and Dr. Kwon Jae-hyun was the one who explained and examined those two goals clearly and accurately.
The most important thing before surgery, more than the hospital itself, was trust in the doctor. I visited several contour-specialty clinics after a lot of research, and Soda Plastic Surgery was the last consultation I had. Before I even mentioned it, the director explained the surgery method well, and he immediately understood the areas I was worried about and the atmosphere I wanted, which I had not even been able to explain fully. He identified my needs very accurately. Above all, he showed before-and-after photos of patients who had undergone surgery with concerns similar to mine, and his confidence in the procedure came through clearly there.
He was especially kind and thorough in answering every question, and he explained the surgery method by drawing it out as he described how it would proceed, which made it much easier to understand and made me feel reassured. The surgical process at other hospitals was hard to understand, so I asked about other methods too, and he explained even those parts carefully.
More than anything, because surgery is performed by the doctor, I thought trust in the doctor was the most important factor. During the consultation, I strongly felt that if I had surgery with Dr. Kwon Jae-hyun, I could entrust my face to him with peace of mind. He clearly understood my face, precisely identified my complexes, and gave me confidence that he would improve things in the direction I wanted, so after much consideration I went ahead with surgery at Soda Plastic Surgery.
If I felt uncertain after visiting other clinics, at Soda I felt a sense of confidence, and the fact that safety felt assured was also one of the reasons I decided to have surgery there.
♡ Recovery process during the first month after surgery
First of all, on the day of surgery I was hospitalized. It was bearable without painkillers, but as the anesthesia wore off the pain continued, so I hardly slept at all that night. My throat hurt especially badly, making it hard to speak, and phlegm and a runny nose kept coming out, so I spent the night standing or sitting.
Day 2: After I came home, my throat hurt and my jaw was painful. It was less painful during the day, but in the evening my facial pain and throat pain got much worse, so for a week I had trouble sleeping and could not lie flat on my back.
Day 3: This was the period when the swelling was at its worst. I could not even go for a walk because my head felt heavy, so I made sure to take the prescribed medicine and worked hard on cold compresses.
Day 7: Until day 7, I slept leaning against the sofa. My throat still hurt, but it was manageable, and from this point I slowly started going out for walks. Walking definitely helped a lot, but in the beginning I made sure not to overdo it. Aftercare was a huge help for me. For about a week I slept poorly because of pain in my jaw, but after receiving one aftercare session and going home, the pain disappeared like magic, and from then on I was able to sleep comfortably. That made me feel I had chosen the right clinic for aftercare.
Week 2: I made sure to walk for at least 30 minutes every day. Honestly, more than drinks or foods said to reduce swelling, like pumpkin tea or pumpkin porridge, walking and showering were really effective at reducing the swelling. Eating was no longer difficult, and I ate anything as long as I could open my mouth enough. Walking + showering + aftercare + warm compresses made it clearly visible that the swelling was going down well. It was so effective that even the staff caring for me were surprised at how much the swelling had already gone down.
From week 3 onward, I could sleep on my side, kept doing warm compresses regularly, and ate freely as long as I cut food into small pieces. Still, I was always conscious of eating carefully.
Between week 4 and one month, when I met friends, the swelling was at the level of looking like I had had my wisdom teeth removed. I could no longer do warm compresses at that point, but I kept up walking and showering to improve blood circulation. The doctor told me to laugh a lot and talk a lot, and moving the muscles helped reduce the swelling. From this point on, being careful not to eat large bites, along with walking, showering, warm compresses, and laughing and talking a lot, was the most effective for me.
♡ It took a full year before I finally decided on contour surgery. I would have to live for the rest of my life with a surgically changed face, and because it would change my entire facial shape, my fear and concerns about safety were enormous. Still, after much deliberation to improve my complex, I went to consultations, and through that process I decided to have surgery with the mindset of improving my flaws and complexes, gaining confidence, and living this one life beautifully and confidently. After surgery, when I looked in the mirror or took photos and saw my refined facial shape, I was highly satisfied, and even when putting on makeup, my flaws were clearly covered, which made makeup much more enjoyable. In particular, I learned how even changes of just a few millimeters can greatly affect one’s impression, which made me realize how important facial shape is and raised my self-esteem even more. Right now the swelling has gone down a lot and it does not look obvious, so as people around me say things like I look prettier, I look like I lost weight, I look younger, and it looks better now, I am living very satisfied. It has only been a month and a half, so the swelling has not completely gone down yet, but I am so excited for what is ahead.
♡ If it had not been for Dr. Kwon Jae-hyun’s detailed explanations and confident consultation, I think I would have kept worrying about the surgery or given up on it. I was extremely worried about side effects. But after about three consultations, and with my parents joining one of them, he gave us accurate information about side effects, continuously explained anything I was curious about, and was so kind that when it was finally time to get on the operating table, I was able to go in with a light 마음 and without tension, which I am grateful for. If you are worried about contour surgery, definitely include Soda on your list and go for a consultation. It will surely help a lot in making your decision. The director was truly kind and gentle, and he answered every single question carefully. He focused only on me, so I felt strongly that I was being cared for, which made me feel very good. The nurses were also really kind and took such good care of me that I was deeply moved and grateful.
