When I consulted through KakaoTalk, they were kind, so I went there, but the actual consultation was completely different. After the consultation, I put down a 100,000 won deposit and made an immediate surgery reservation, thinking I would still properly talk with the doctor before surgery, but the doctor kept changing what they said during the consultation. Suddenly they said to add brow fixation, or insisted that I absolutely had to get eye correction and front canthoplasty even though another hospital had told me not to. Then when I tried to ask in more detail, they gave only vague explanations of the surgical method and had a rushed feeling. Brow fixation is especially unfamiliar surgery, and they just vaguely said, “we cut here and attach it.” After the consultation I became really anxious because they seemed to have no real conviction and just wanted to rush everything and get surgery done right away. So I felt bad for the hospital, but I said I’d think it over and come back even if I lost the 100,000 won consultation deposit, and then the consultation manager suddenly threatened me, saying they had set aside 1.5 hours of surgery time and that I couldn’t not have the surgery. When I still said I was too worried, the consultation room manager stormed out and said they’d go ask the doctor. Then they came back and suddenly said, “Then just do the double eyelids and go.” It’s surgery that puts a knife to your face, but they kept bargaining like they just wanted to make money. So when I said I wanted to think about the surgery itself, they said, “Then pay compensation for the 1.5 hours of time we set aside.” The patient says they suddenly got scared and can’t go through with surgery, but they were threatened to go ahead and then told that. I was willing to throw away the deposit too. From the perspective of a doctor who does surgery every day, losing the 1.5 hours reserved for surgery is definitely a loss, but from a business standpoint they should obviously accept that kind of case as well. The fact that they were acting without any medical conviction and saying things like pay compensation or then just do the double eyelids made the hospital feel like it was set on making money.
