This was the longest consultation I've had at any place I've visited, and I felt a high level of trust in the director's expertise and reliability. He explained things in the form of 'because of X, we do Y,' and when I asked questions, he explained the muscles being touched and the principles involved, which made me feel reassured. The counselor asked first whether I wanted to avoid incisional surgery, and it felt like they were trying to answer as much as possible according to that need, and they didn't say, 'You must do this.' It seems less confusing if the patient comes in with a clear direction. If you ask for a recommendation between two options, they will give one, but it doesn't feel like they force a decision on you. Still, that made it feel less like a sales pitch, which I liked. They repeatedly shaped the line and explained it. At other hospitals they just unconditionally told me to do canthoplasty, but here they showed how the eye shape changes with and without it, and the more specific the questions and requests, the more information I got, so I got a lot out of it. Rather than going to the first hospital you find, I think you should compare many places and ask everything you want to know. I gained a lot of trust in the director.
