I had a consultation for chin reduction surgery. The consultation style itself was the same as at other hospitals. First they did a CT scan, then asked what kind of face shape I wanted, explained how the surgery would be done, and asked if I had any questions. But maybe because the doctor was tired, or maybe that's just his style, he did not proactively explain what kinds of side effects could happen with such and such surgery. You need a proper understanding of the procedure to be able to make a lot of decisions about the surgical direction during the consultation.
