First of all, the consultation director was very kind. The professionalism looked a little lacking, but she answered all my questions. I visited five places. Two of them did not recommend costal cartilage, and three did; this place was one of the two. One unusual thing was that they said they wouldn't use the septum either, and would only use ear cartilage! The surgeon later said that if I ever ended up not liking it and removed everything, my original nose should still remain, so in that case I shouldn't use even a small septum piece but leave it as is. That sounded right to me because my septum is a bit small. The surgeon seemed to pursue a natural look and to work conservatively. The biggest advantage is that they don't pack the nose with cotton after surgery! I'm unsure whether ear cartilage alone can give me the height I want, so I'm putting it on hold for now.
