If you don't have a flat face, especially here for jaw surgery, seriously be careful and go consult other places too. My face isn't exactly flat, but I have little volume, so after my first consultation here I thought, "Oh, this is a face that definitely needs maxillary advancement." I had protruding-mouth correction when I was young, and the protrusion feeling was somewhat improved, but because of my long face and recessed chin, I've been thinking about surgery. Other clinic directors told me that for my face, the maxilla is already protruding enough, and if I advance and rotate it here, I'd end up looking like a monkey and my recessed chin would only get worse, so the image I want would absolutely not improve. It seemed like the doctor was especially proud of reducing the joint width (horizontally), so I wasn't sure whether people who had surgery for a long face actually got good improvement. And just from looking at photos, the aesthetic didn't match mine, so I passed. But it also turns out the surgical method itself didn't suit me, so I think that was a relief. Please think it through carefully.
